ELECTROGIG announces GIG3DGO Release 3.0 which includes inverse kinematics.

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 8, 1994--ELECTROGIG announced Tuesday the release of GIG3DGO version 3.0 which includes GIGOrganic, a powerful tool for animating and modeling human characters, animals and plants.

Now through inverse kinematics, animators can automatically design and animate organic characters with natural behavior characteristics. This announcement reinforces ELECTROGIG as the provider of the industry's most cost-effective, easy-to-use 3D animation software for Unix workstations.

GIGOrganic is an advanced tool based on spline curves and surfaces which can be interactively controlled to model and animate skins and skeletons. All GIG3DGO models can be converted to a skin surface; splines can be connected to create skeletons. Combining the two, animators can create realistic, complex figure and character animations with traits such as bulging muscles and smoothly joined limbs.

In addition, splines and skins can be animated using dynamics and inverse kinematics. The organic models can move under the influence of gravity, vector fields and collision detection.

Unlike other 3D software packages, which are based on polygonal surface modeling, ELECTROGIG software works in a solid-modeling paradigm, augmented by a high-performance raytracing algorithm -- allowing users to create photorealistic images without inhibiting creativity.

GIG3DGO eliminates the faceted-in segments that give curved, rounded surfaces created with other software a computer-generated look. For example, the image of a bowl created with an ELECTROGIG product has a perfectly shaped curved surface, without any facets.
