ELECTION RESULTS TO HIT EARLY COUNT SET AT CITY HALL.

SANTA CLARITA Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country,  - Ballots in Tuesday's high school bond election will be counted at Santa Clarita City Hall and available earlier than normal, election officials announced.

``By setting up vote tabulating equipment in Santa Clarita, ballots are expected to be counted by 10 p.m.,'' said Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk Conny McCormack, who will be on site along with several computer technicians.

The Hart District's $52 million school bond measure is the only item on Tuesday's ballot. A similar measure in November won a majority vote, but fell just short of the necessary two-thirds majority.

Election officials agreed to do the count at City Hall because there are a large number of precincts pre·cinct

``There's a number of steps that will be saved,'' said Marcia Ventura, spokeswoman for the registrar. ``We've done a number of elections in remote locations. It's worked well.''

Absentee ballots will be checked for signatures at the Registrar's Office before being brought to Santa Clarita City Hall where they will be counted just after the polls close.

They will be the first results to be released.

Precinct A constable's or police district. A small geographical unit of government. An election district created for convenient localization of polling places. A county or municipal subdivision for casting and counting votes in elections.


PRECINCT.
 results, which are expected to be released about 10 p.m. will be semi-official. An official result will be released about three weeks later, officials said.

``This makes the results available to the public right away,'' Ventura said. ``People who are for and against the bond measure are able to observe it as they wish. Everyone is welcome to watch.''

Anyone interested in observing the process can do so beginning at 8 p.m. at City Hall, 23920 W. Valencia Blvd.
