ELDERLY MOM REVEALS IDENTITY.

The world's oldest mother, who at the age of 63 gave birth last year in California, revealed her identity in an interview published today in a British newspaper.

Arceli Keh told The Express that her 60-year-old husband, Isagani, was still working at a carpentry shop because they spent at least $50,000 on the in vitro fertilization in vitro fertilization (vē`trō, vĭ`trō), technique for conception of a human embryo outside the mother's body. Several ova, or eggs, are removed from the mother's body and placed in special laboratory culture dishes (Petri dishes);  treatment that led to the birth of their daughter, Cynthia.

The revelation last week that Arceli Keh gave birth five months ago raised questions about the ethical and practical ramifications ramifications nplAuswirkungen pl  of having a baby so late in life.

``I wasn't trying to make history,'' she told The Express. ``I just wanted a baby.''

The Kehs have been married for 16 years and have no other children. The couple immigrated from the Philippines and live in Highland, 60 miles east of Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850. .

``We are far from wealthy,'' Arceli Keh said. ``We are working people. I only retired to have my baby.''
