Sametz graduated with high distinction from Carleton University in 1979 with a Bachelor of Engineering Bachelor of Engineering (commonly abbreviated as BE or BEng) is an undergraduate academic degree awarded to a student after three to five years of studying engineering at an accredited university in Australia, Canada, China, Finland, Germany, India, Ireland, Korea, (Mech.) degree. He has held several positions with ELAN and its predecessor companies since 1985, most recently as Manager of Engineering. Sametz is a member of APEGGA APEGGA Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta , SPE SPE - Software Practice and Experience and is an active member of the Petroleum Society of CIM.
