EG&G WINS KENNEDY SPACE CENTER CONTRACT

    WELLESLEY, Mass., Oct. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- EG&G, Inc. (NYSE: EGG) announced that its subsidiary EG&G Florida, Inc. has been selected for final negotiations to continue as the Base Operations Contractor at the Kennedy Space Center (KSC) on behalf of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).  The cost-plus-award/incentive fee contract will be for a total potential contract period, including options, of 10 years.  EG&G's proposed cost is approximately $1.7 billion, exclusive of fees.
    EG&G Florida, Inc. is the incumbent contractor and has served in that role since January 1, 1983.
    As the Base Operations Contractor, EG&G Florida, Inc. will provide a broad base of support services for the KSC mission, encompassing management, operation, maintenance and engineering for KSC's utilities and facilities; health, fire and security services; and certain technical and administrative operations.
    EG&G is a Fortune 200 company with annual sales of $2.7 billion. It designs and manufactures laboratory and field-test instruments and electronic and mechanical components for commercial customers.  EG&G provides systems engineering, precision component manufacturing, and test-site operating and management services to many government agencies and laboratories.  It employs 31,000 people worldwide.
