EFFORTS GEARING UP TO SHOWCASE RATTLERS' SOCCER.

Byline: GIDEON RUBIN Staff Writer

LANCASTER -- Efforts to build the Lancaster Rattlers' visibility in advance of their inaugural season have produced a deal with a high-profile business partner.

The newly formed Premier Development League soccer team will announce a cross-promotion partnership later this month with Chivas USA, Rattlers general manager Gerald Brunner said.

Under terms of the agreement, the Rattlers will play host this year to Chivas for at least one and possibly two exhibition games at Palmdale High. Chivas will host a special ``Lancaster Rattlers Lancaster Rattlers are an American soccer team, founded in 2006. Tickets for any Chivas exhibition game against the Rattlers will include a ticket for a Chivas MLS game. Chivas will also include tickets to a Rattlers game on Rattlers night.

The Rattlers agreed to terms with the Antelope Valley Union High School District The Antelope Valley Union High School District (A.V.U.H.S.D.) is located in the Antelope Valley area of California, in northern Los Angeles County.

The district includes eight public high schools, one trade school, and two continuation high schools in the cities of Palmdale

He said the Rattlers will make promoting local players a priority.

``It's going to give them a lot more opportunity to go on if they desire to do that,'' Brunner said.

The Rattlers have also formed a partnership with AV United, one the Antelope Valley's largest independent youth programs.

Brunner's future plans include construction of a new stadium and bringing a professional United Soccer League Div. I team to the Antelope Valley within five years. He also plans to bring a W League 17-and-over women's development team to the area within a year.

His ambitious vision is based on his belief that soccer ``is on the edge of explosive growth'' nationally.

``The possibilities are there,'' Brunner said. ``Sometimes you've got to think big, because if you don't you'll never accomplish your dreams.''
