EEMA to tackle cyber crime at UK Regional Interest group workshop.eema, the independent European association for e-business, today announced its UK Regional Interest group will be holding an informative workshop on cyber crime on 13th September 2005. 'Viruses, Spim, Spam, Trojans, Spyware & Phishing Security' aims to explore the progressively sophisticated techniques used by cyber criminals and how to combat and reduce these threats. Such criminal activity continues to grow, with research organisations such as The Anti Phishing Working Group and SurfControl both reporting significant increases in malicious activity this year, in phishing and e-mail threats respectively. For example, a commonly reported situation by SurfControl involved fake e-greetings cards with URLs linking to Trojans or malicious code that can hack into corporate networks and install botnets for spam distribution.
