Latino Family Conference scheduled for Saturday

The Sixth Annual Latino Family Conference will be held Saturday from 12:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Springfield Middle School, 1084 G St. The conference, hosted by the Lane Education Service District, the Springfield School District and Willamalane Park & Recreation District, will offer free activities, food, entertainment and prizes for the whole family. South Lane board seeks budget committee applicants

The South Lane School Board is seeking applicants to serve on its budget committee. The open positions are Zone 3 (Delight Valley), Zone 4 (Blue Mountain/Mountain View), Zone 5 (Culp Creek/Dorena) and Zone 7 (at large). Submissions sought for Willamette anthology

Publishers of an anthology focused on the Willamette River Willamette River

River, northwestern Oregon, U.S. It flows north for 300 mi (485 km) into the Columbia River near Portland. Oregon's most populous cities are in its valley. The Fremont Bridge, a steel arch with a main span of 1,225 ft (373 m), crosses the river at Portland.
 Basin are asking students from kindergarten through college to submit literature for inclusion in the book. Literature should focus on the relationship between people and the watershed - the waters, land, plants, animals and habitats that make up the system. Submissions may include fiction, poetry and essays in any area of study. Black and white photos and drawings are allowed, but not required. In addition, a special section will be devoted to entries written in foreign languages, with translations required. Published writers will receive a free copy of the anthology, and all schools that participate can send for a free Watershed Toolkit and a free copy of the final anthology. Applications and entries are due Feb. 18.
