3 local scholarships
Three local high school seniors were among 65 children of
Weyerhaeuser employees worldwide to be awarded scholarships from the
Weyerhaeuser Company Foundation. They are Ryan Bronson, 17, a student at

Roger Keady works at Weyerhaeuser's pulp and paper plant in
Springfield.
The Weyerhaeuser Company Foundation annually awards scholarships to
children of Weyerhaeuser employees.
The scholarships are for seniors entering a junior college,
vocational or technical institution, or a four-year institution. The
winners were chosen from more than 500 applicants. Winners were selected
on the basis of test scores, qualities of leadership and participation
in school and community activities, along with several other criteria.
Student winners are eligible for awards ranging from $1,000 to
$4,000 a year.
International student wins scholarship to Occidental
Chloe Thulstrup, a student in the International High School at
Sheldon High School, has received a scholarship for $28,355 to attend
Occidental College History The Birth of Occidental College Occidental College (commonly referred to as Oxy) was founded on April 20, 1887, by a group of Presbyterian clergy and laymen. in Los Angeles, where she plans to study English and
comparative literature. A water polo player and swimmer, Thulstrup is a
2005 Scholastic All-American.
