for national contest

 competition at the state contest, held in Portland last month.

Mariah Vandegriffe and Lindsey Leighton placed third in Public Relations public relations, activities and policies used to create public interest in a person, idea, product, institution, or business establishment. Jacob Miller (May 4, 1952 – March 23, 1980[1]) was a Jamaican reggae artist.
 placed second in apparel and accessories. Cole Naber placed seventh in business services and may have an opportunity to attend nationals in Orlando, Fla., next month. Vandegriffe placed seventh in food marketing management and qualified for nationals in this event, too.

Three other students will also go to nationals: Brad Bridges and Loren Jessen for the Leadership Development Academy and Mike Bergen for Senior Management Institute.

Susan Stambaugh is the DECA adviser; she was assisted by retired marketing teacher Ken Johnston.

Pleasant Hill senior

is Coca Cola Scholar

Micah Randall, a Pleasant Hill High School senior, is among the newest class of Coca Cola Scholars. Students selected have demonstrated through academic excellence and leadership in their communities their capacity for, and commitment to, making a difference in the world.

Randall competed as a semifinalist with 2,000 students from across the nation and was selected a Coca Cola Scholar. He'll receive at least a $10,000 scholarship and will travel to Atlanta in April to compete with 250 students from across the nation for two levels of awards: $10,000 or $20,000.

School wins grant

from gardening group

The Eugene School District's Bailey Hill Instructional Center, a program serving students in grades six through nine, has won a 2007 Youth Garden Grant from the National Gardening Association. The award includes an assortment of gardening books and a $250 gift card from The Home Depot. The award will allow the school to begin basic horticultural education and student gardening projects that will beautify the building and give

students a personal investment in their surroundings.

Kiwanis club honors

Bohemia Sunrisers Kiwanis recently honored Cottage Grove High School Cottage Grove High School is a public high school located in Cottage Grove, Oregon. It has a newer school building, opened in 2003 to replace the old high school building that was built in 1939 and held its first classes in 1940.  seniors Taylor Cook and Amanda Vanderhoef as the students of the month for February.

She'll go on a mission trip to Mexico through her church during spring break, and plans to attend Northwest Christian College Northwest Christian College is a private, liberal arts college located in Eugene, Oregon and is affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the Independent Christian Churches/Churches of Christ. .
