EDS has selected Convera (Nasdaq:CNVR) to provide advanced search, retrieval and information discovery capabilities to users of the Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI), a single, secure, enterprise-wide network linking more than 300 U.S. Navy and Marine Corps shore facilities in the continental U.S. and several overseas locations.

Convera's RetrievalWare(R) search, retrieval and categorization technology will help more than 360,000 Navy and Marine Corps personnel in their information-centric warfare efforts by effectively categorizing & searching across petabytes of data to enable discovery and collaboration on information.

Convera will provide EDS its technology in an information utility model that allows EDS to provide its NMCI customers secure access to any data, regardless of data type -- any time and anywhere on the NMCI network -- by utilizing the advanced network infrastructure built by the EDS NMCI team. Data access is based on security measures in accordance with the NMCI contract awarded EDS.

Convera becomes part of the EDS NMCI team of more than 3,500 people providing applications and other resources for the creation of successful Navy Marine Corp Intranet.
