EDO Names Frank Otto as Chief Operating Officer.

: EDO) Chairman and Chief Executive Officer James M. Smith announced the appointment, by the Board of Directors, of Frank W. Otto to the position of Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer Chief Operating Officer (COO)

, effective immediately. In this position, Otto is responsible for all EDO operations.

Otto, 54, joined EDO Corporation in 1979. He served in a number of leadership positions in the advanced-systems and engineering departments.

In 2000, Otto was named Group Vice President of EDO's Integrated Systems and Structures business group with responsibilities for composite structures, aircraft armament, and mine countermeasures. He was appointed Executive Vice President of the corporation in 2002.

Otto received his bachelor's and master's degrees in mechanical engineering from SUNY SUNY - State University of New York  Stony Brook. Prior to joining EDO, he worked for the Grumman Aerospace Corporation.

Otto is chairman of the board of the Long Island Forum of Technology (LIFT), co-chairman of the board of the Long Island Technology Network (LITNet) and a member of the Academic Advisory Council for the mechanical-engineering department at SUNY Stony Brook. He is the author and co-author of numerous papers in the fields of fluid mechanics and hydrodynamics hydrodynamics: see mechanics.
