EDO Corporation receives second order for consumers power company for compressed natural gas (CNG) refueling stations.

COLLEGE POINT, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--August 31, 1995--EDO Edo: see Tokyo, Japan. Automotive Natural Gas Inc. (EDO ANGI ANGI - Air National Guard Instruction) the compressed natural gas (CNG) refueling station packaging unit of EDO Energy, a wholly-owned subsidiary of EDO Corp. (NYSE:EDO), today announced the receipt of an order valued at approximately $1 million from Consumers Power Company in Jackson, Michigan, the nation's fourth largest utility.

The CNG station packages, which are destined for five public refueling sites across Michigan, include single and twin high pressure natural gas compressors with electric and natural gas engine drives, EDO ANGI's AMP 3 control system, as well as dryers, vapor recovery systems, instruments and system enclosures. Follow-up services include: maintenance, repair and on-call servicing.

This July order is Consumers Power's second major purchase in 12 months for CNG fueling stations specifically designed for public use. The first, in September 1994, was for seven stations and also featured EDO ANGI equipment.

According to Frank Fariello, President and CEO of EDO Corp., "The contract award demonstrates EDO ANGI's success in providing cost effective, consistent quality, and superior customer service."

He also noted that, "Since the day EDO ANGI became a part of the EDO Energy team, all of our efforts have gone into ensuring that our fueling stations, and our conversion systems, meet the highest quality levels possible. Important repeat customers, like Consumers Power, indicated our efforts are succeeding."

Vance Anderson, Director, CNG Vehicles for Consumers Power, supported the idea that the EDO ANGI equipment was an ideal choice for the five-station project noting the commitment EDO ANGI has made to continuously improving not only the products, but service and maintenance issues as well.

"We want our customers to find natural gas to be just as convenient and available at our public stations as gasoline. EDO ANGI has stepped forward and is providing us with a service network in Michigan that assures our public stations will continue to operate with a high rate of availability."

Consumers Power Company, the principal subsidiary of CMS Energy Corporation, is Michigan's largest natural gas and electric utility serving more than six million of the state's nine and one half million residents in 67 of the 68 lower Peninsula counties.

Principally a designer and manufacturer of advanced electronic, acoustic, aerodynamic and hydrodynamic equipment for military applications and marine and aviation markets, EDO has been pursing the application of its sophisticated and diverse defense-related technologies to civilian and commercial markets with particular emphasis on the natural gas vehicle equipment marketplace.
