Contamination crisis

Two new studies of contamination at Santa Susana Santa Susana can refer to several places:
  • The Santa Susana Mountains in southern California
  • Santa Susana Pass, running through the abovementioned mountains
  • Santa Susana Field Laboratory, near Los Angeles, a test facility for rockets and (formerly) nuclear reactors
 Field Lab are the strongest evidence so far that toxic materials have affected the health of neighboring residents.

Baca's blame game

Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  County Sheriff Lee Baca Leroy David Baca (b. May 27 1942, East Los Angeles, California) is the Sheriff of Los Angeles County, California.

After graduating from Benjamin Franklin High School (Los Angeles) in 1960, Baca worked his way through East Los Angeles College before starting with the L.A.
 needs to take responsibility for the riots in county jails - not point fingers at everyone else.

Romer's wake-up call

Only the New York City Department of Education has a larger student population.  has forced Superintendent Roy Romer to address the LAUSD's dropout crisis.

Untangling traffic

Left-turn lights seem like small potatoes, but the city's plan for 160 new ones could have a big impact on the flow of traffic on L.A.'s streets.
