EDITORIAL VALLEY TRIUMPHS LOCAL SCHOOLS SNAG TITLES.


WITH Kennedy High School of Granada Hills securing its seventh city title -- and its first since 2000 -- the San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley

Valley, southern California, U.S. Northwest of central Los Angeles, the valley is bounded by the San Gabriel, Santa Susana, and Santa Monica mountains and the Simi Hills.
 has once again demonstrated its baseball-diamond dominance. To win the championship, Kennedy had to defeat not one but two Valley powerhouses along the way, perennial contenders El Camino Real El Camino Real (Spanish for The Royal Road or The King's Highway) was the name of a series of pre-automobile highways linking the various New World colonies of Spain:

 and Chatsworth.

But Kennedy isn't the only local champion. Over the weekend, Valencia High School Valencia High School may refer to:
  • Valencia High School (Placentia, California), a public high school in Placentia, California.
  • Valencia High School (Santa Clarita, California), a public high school in Santa Clarita, California.
, Oaks Christian and Viewpoint of Calabasas all secured titles in their respective boys' volleyball volleyball, outdoor or indoor ball and net game played on a level court. An upright net, 3 ft (or 1 m) high, the top of which stands 8 ft (2.43 m) from the ground for men, 7 ft 4 1/8 in (2.  divisions.

High school sports play a vital role in teaching kids the virtues of teamwork, discipline and sacrifice. And as the latest batch of titles shows us yet again, the Valley area has a proud tradition of excellence in high school sports.

We salute and congratulate all of our local champs -- the players, their parents, their coaches and fans.
