EDITORIAL VALLEY'S OPEN HEARTS.LITTLE Jervino ``Vino'' Umpung's future seemed very uncertain when he was severely burned in an accident with fire in his native Indonesia Indonesia (ĭn'dənē`zhə), officially Republic of Indonesia, republic (2005 est. pop. 241,974,000), c.735,000 sq mi (1,903,650 sq km), SE Asia, in the Malay Archipelago. The fourth most populous country in the world, Indonesia comprises more than 13,000 islands extending c.. But the 9-year-old's outlook sure changed several months ago when a Woodland Hills church, Gereja Bethel 1 Ancient city of central Palestine, the modern Baytin, the West Bank, N of Jerusalem. According to the Bible, where it is frequently mentioned, it was originally called Luz (see Luz (1)). The Book of Genesis relates that Abraham built his first altar in Canaan here and that the name Bethel, given to Jacob's sacred stone, was then transferred to the town itself. At the time of the Judges it was a national shrine. It temporarily harbored the Ark of the Covenant. Indonesia of Los Angeles, brought him to Dr. Richard Grossman, founder of the Grossman Burn Center burn center n. at Sherman Oaks Hospital, for treatment. A multidisciplinary health care facility in which victims of burns are treated. The Children's Burn Foundation has generously paid for his multiple surgeries. Doctors have donated their services. And local churches have covered Vino's family's living expenses here and in Indonesia.
