EDITORIAL URBAN RENEWAL.
AS too many San Fernando Valley neighborhoods fall victim to municipal neglect, it's nice to see that the Community Redevelopment Agency is making a smart move in Reseda.
The CRA hopes to spark an urban renewal on a stretch of Sherman Way by restoring the shuttered and run-down 57-year-old Reseda Theater as a cultural focal point focal point.
That worked in Canoga Park with the rebirth of the historic Madrid Theatre just down the road. The success of the reopened theater as a community playhouse helped to drive the restoration of the surrounding Sherman Way business area.
Let's hope a restored Reseda Theater can be a similar catalyst for its community.
