Garcia, the subject of Dennis McCarthy's column last Sunday, is the Newhall hairdresser who donated do·nate v. do·nat·ed, do·nat·ing, do·nates v.tr. To present as a gift to a fund or cause; contribute. v.intr. To make a contribution to a fund or cause. her kidney to a man she barely even knew, a customer's husband. Never mind the risks involved in surgery, or the unpaid leave she would have to take from her job, or any pain that might come with her recovery. Garcia saw a chance to do good, to save the life of Tony Ruffino, a husband and father of two young children.
