EDITORIAL RIGHT ON R.


FOR the most part, the Los Angeles City Council The Los Angeles City Council is the governing body of the City of Los Angeles, California, United States.  has enjoyed broad support from public-employee unions for Proposition R, its deceitful attempt to extend its members' terms in office. But not any more.

Last week, the city's Engineers Architects Association came out against the measure. This is in stark contrast to SEIU SEIU Service Employees International Union
SEIU Special Education Intake Unit
SEIU Secondary Education Interdisciplinary Unit
SEIU Software Engineering Institute Union
 Local 347, which endorsed Proposition R, or the police and firefighters unions, which have both poured thousands of dollars into the yes campaign.

So what gives?

Yes, this could be a substantive, philosophical difference of opinion, but city politics rarely work on such a principled prin·ci·pled

What's more likely is that the EAA EAA Experimental Aircraft Association
EAA European Aluminium Association (Brussels, Belgium)
EAA European Acoustics Association
EAA Export Administration Act
EAA Everglades Agricultural Area
EAA European Association of Archaeologists
, which is unable to get the contract it wants out of City Hall, is in no mood to give the council its coveted cov·et

 power extension. Whereas the other unions, having been properly coddled, want to keep their political benefactors in power for as long as possible.

So the EAA has most likely done the right thing for the wrong reason -- which is better than we can say for the rest of the city's unions.
