EDITORIAL RICE CAKE MADNESS GETTING THE COUNTY OUT OF THE KITCHEN.


SOMEHOW, Korean civilization managed to survive for thousands of years without the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services The Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (DHS) in Los Angeles County's department providing public and personal health services to the over 10 million residents in the County. . And all the while Koreans ate rice cakes - without catastrophe.

But last July, the bureaucracy decided that its wisdom transcended the ages. It issued new food inspection guidelines ordering vendors to refrigerate traditional Korean rice cakes immediately after baking them.

The only problem is that refrigerating rice cakes causes them to harden and become almost indigestible in·di·gest·i·ble

And there are no documented cases of food poisoning food poisoning, acute illness following the eating of foods contaminated by bacteria, bacterial toxins, natural poisons, or harmful chemical substances. It was once customary to classify all such illnesses as "ptomaine poisoning," but it was later discovered that  from Korean rice cakes in L.A. County.
