Because our primary takes place so late in the year, the parties have usually settled on their candidates well before we even get to vote.

That said, what's worrisome is that the primary issue may be part of some uber-deal between the governor and the Legislature to also fix our political districting system and -- of course -- water down term limits.

We realize that deals are the price of progress in politics, and that's OK. But the danger here is that should the deal not go through, we'll we'll
