EDITORIAL PIERCE'S NEW PREZ.


CONGRATULATIONS, and welcome back, to Robert Garber, the new president and a former dean at Pierce College In 2006 the Library won a national Excellence award. Academics
Pierce College offers associate's degrees, mainly in the arts and sciences. There are also certificate programs in early childhood education, social services, dental hygienist, and others.

Garber has big shoes to fill. His predecessor, Rocky Young - now senior vice president of the Los Angeles Community College District The Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) is the community college district serving Los Angeles, California and some of its neighboring cities. In addition to typical college aged students, the LACCD also serves adults of all ages.  - led Pierce Pierce may refer to: Places

 to a new place of pride and achievement. The campus and farm are thriving, and the community is re-energized.

But Pierce also still has its challenges. Chief among them is declining enrollment at community colleges across the state, thanks to rising student fees and unreliable funding from Sacramento.

The role of community colleges in creating opportunities for all cannot be underestimated in California. Building upon Young's success at Pierce will be a tall order for Garber, but he will have the hopes and support of the entire San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley
