EDITORIAL NEIGHBORHOOD NEGLECT.


FOR a brief moment on Monday, Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  City Councilwoman Cindy Miscikowski Cindy Miscikowski represented the 11th District on the Los Angeles City Council for two full terms from 1997 through 2005. Previously, she was an aide to Councilman Marvin Braude and the Executive Director of the Skitball Cultural Center in its beginning stages.  was the champion of community concerns in the reconstitution of the scandal-plagued Entertainment Industry Development Crop.

Miscikowski and fellow council committee members quickly tabled a move to create an EIDC community advisory council when the corporation's interim head, Keith Comrie, promised that, somehow, his troubled agency would allow input on neighborhood concerns when it reorganizes.

As city leaders move to put the EIDC at arm's length arm's length adj. the description of an agreement made by two parties freely and independently of each other, and without some special relationship, such as being a relative, having another deal on the side or one party having complete control of the other.  from themselves, they risk putting it out of reach of the city's residents.

Everyone appreciates the importance of the entertainment industry to Los Angeles and the need to take real steps to keep production here. But to achieve that the new EIDC must be accountable and responsible to the public.
