 Tuesday, when Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger Arnold Alois Schwarzenegger (German pronunciation (IPA): [ˈaɐ̯nɔlt ˈaloɪ̯s ˈʃvaɐ̯ʦənˌʔɛɡɐ]  signed a bill barring registered sex offenders sex offender n. generic term for all persons convicted of crimes involving sex, including rape, molestation, sexual harassment and pornography production or distribution.  from getting free, taxpayer-funded Viagra.

So, yes, our state is still filled with these dangerous criminals, as a quick look at the Megan's Law Megan's Laws are named for Megan Kanka, a seven-year-old girl from New Jersey who was sexually assaulted and murdered in 1994 by a neighbor who, unknown to the victim's family, had been previously convicted for Sex Offenses against children.  Web site makes all too clear.

And, yes, there's little to stop them from reoffending, as they are notoriously prone to doing.

There's also nothing to stop them from loading up on Viagra on their own dime, or to keep physicians from prescribing it to them.

But we can at least take some solace: If California's sex offenders need medication to offend again, well, gosh darn it, they're going to have to pay for the drug themselves.

Who said Californians can't be tough?
