There are many unpleasant things about airplane airplane, aeroplane, or aircraft, heavier-than-air vehicle, mechanically driven and fitted with fixed wings that support it in flight through the dynamic action of the air.  travel, not the least of which is being jammed into spaces only minutely larger than our rapidly expanding waistlines.

Travelers understand that an uncomfortable few hours in a tiny seat, along with cardboard food and a $5 in-flight movie, is what makes a visit to Disney World or Hawaii affordable every now and again.

But the proposal floated by airline manufacturers to squeeze even more travelers into planes by standing them up and strapping strap·ping
