EDITORIAL INFORMATION LOCKDOWN.

LOS Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca has instituted a lockdown
Lockdown
A specified period when an employee of a public company is barred from selling - and occasionally buying - their company's stock.

Notes:
These types of equity transaction restrictions can be imposed by securities regulators or underwriting firms if a company has recently issued public securities. They can also be self-imposed by a corporation as an impetus for employees to retain company stock.
on anyone who might make his jail system look bad.

That's the upshot of a policy that bars jail chaplains and other volunteers from criticizing conditions in the jails, or even speaking to the media, without public approval. Javier Stauring, a Catholic lay minister who volunteered in the jails for three years, is no longer allowed inside after complaining about what he described as cramped

recumbency cramps  cramping in legs and feet occurring while resting or during light sleep.
writers' cramp  a muscle cramp in the hand caused by excessive use in writing.
 conditions.

Stauring is suing to change the policy, and we can only hope the Sheriff's Department will relent without even going to trial. Jails are supposed to keep inmates in - not keep the light of public scrutiny out.

The people of Los Angeles County have a right to know what's going on in their jails. Chaplains have a right to free speech. And we all have a vested interest
Vested Interest
A financial or personal stake one entity has in an asset, security, or transaction.

Notes:
For example, if you have a mortgage, your bank has a vested interest on the sale of your house.
