EDITORIAL IN MEMORY OF A FIGHTER.

Valley, southern California, U.S. Northwest of central Los Angeles, the valley is bounded by the San Gabriel, Santa Susana, and Santa Monica mountains and the Simi Hills.
 and was a community activist and fighter for the Northeast Valley.

During 50 years of activism, she fought for health care, education and early childhood learning.

And she fought hard to move a proposed community college from Northridge to Sylmar, where Mission College was constructed in 1991, more than a decade after she went door to door in the community to fight for resources.

Now there's a move to have a building named after Ramirez, who died Jan. 24 at the age of 84.

It is a worthwhile effort that should be given serious consideration by the Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  Community College board.

The Valley needs more people like Guadalupe Ramirez. Recognizing her contributions by naming a building after her is a proper salute to a woman who fought for her neighborhood in the Valley.
