EDITORIAL HELPING THE HOMELESS SYLMAR PROJECT MUST ADDRESS COMMUNITY CONCERNS.


GIVEN the crisis of homelessness in Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  and the dire need for housing, it only makes sense that county officials are expediting the opening of a new shelter northeast “Northeastern” redirects here. Some neighbors in Kagel Canyon are upset by the decision to exempt Union Rescue Mission The Union Rescue Mission (URM) is a private, Christian, homeless shelter in downtown Los Angeles's skid row. It is the largest, private, homeless shelter in the United States.  from a lengthy environmental review, but there's no need for one in this case. The site previously served as a retirement home, a zoning use similar enough that no major changes are needed.
