EDITORIAL FINDING THE FUGITIVES.

AUTHORITIES in Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Centered on the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, Southern California is home to nearly 24 million people and is the nation's second most populated region, , as well as throughout the U.S. and Mexico, have done something as critical as it is overdue - rounding up fugitive sex offenders sex offender n. generic term for all persons convicted of crimes involving sex, including rape, molestation, sexual harassment and pornography production or distribution. .

Although the effort, scheduled to coincide with National Crime Victims' Rights Week Crime Victims' Rights Week is an annual commemoration in the United States that promotes victims' rights and services. The week is marked by an award ceremony held in Washington, D.C. , targeted fugitives of all kinds, it focused on sex offenders. And the effort paid off, resulting in 9,037 arrests over 10 days, including 262 in Southern California. An astonishing a·ston·ish

To fill with sudden wonder or amazement. See Synonyms at surprise.
462 were arrested on violent sex-crime charges, including raping children.

Glad though we all are for these results, it's odd that it should take a special week for authorities to go after some of the most vile criminals out there. If we have the capacity to find wanted child rapists, doing so should be law enforcement's top priority.

We're glad to see cops putting pedophiles behind bars - we just wish it were more of an everyday occurrence.
