So it's hardly a city that should be giving freebies to Louis Farrakhan, the hate-mongering leader of the Nation of Islam Nation of Islam: see Black Muslims.

 has discovered that the city has waived $29,000 in fees for a planned Nation of Islam conference at the Convention Center in February. The ADL is protesting the decision - and with good reason.

The protest begs an important question: Should the city be renting out the Convention Center free of charge to anybody? After all, it's a taxpayer- supported business, not a charity, though its staggering losses show it's not a very well-run business.
