EDITORIAL EVERY VOTE COUNTS.NOV. 5 is a critical day in the history of the San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles - and every single vote is going to matter. While there are many issues on the ballot - statewide offices and measures, and a $3.35 billion local school bond - voters in Los Angeles will decide whether the Valley will break away from Los Angeles to form its own city. For or against secession, voters will have their say on Election Day. The money pouring into the fight against secession should tell you something big is at stake and that your vote is important. The debate, scare tactics and money mean nothing when it is you in the election booth exercising your right to vote. We urge you to study the issues, ask questions, make the right choice for your family, your neighborhood and your way of life. Don't miss out on your chance to have your voice heard. The deadline to register to vote in the election is Oct. 21. A request for an absentee ballot must reach the Registrar-Recorder's Office by Oct. 29. Registration forms are available at most county buildings and city government offices, libraries, police and fire stations; most post offices; and the offices of the state Department of Motor Vehicles. You can also find registration forms at Albertsons and Sav-On stores. An online registration form and instructions can be found at www.ss.ca.gov/elections/votereg1.html. Don't let your vote go unused. Don't let your voice be unheard. Vote. |
