EDITORIAL DRIVE UP AND FLY.

What could be more L.A. than valet parking? In a town that has valet parking even at minimalls and doctor's offices, it seems natural that travelers would also have the opportunity for drive-up service at Los Angeles International Airport.

Natural, perhaps, but not available.

That will change next week when Los Angeles World Airports starts a valet-service pilot program at a few terminals. For $38 a day , travelers can drive up to the curb, toss their keys to a valet and hit the security lines. Upon returning, they can call the valet service up from the landing ramps and have their cars waiting curbside.

In a time when all the extra security rules and restrictions seem bent on making air travel less convenient, it's nice to know that LAX is thinking about convenience as well - at least for those who can afford it.
