EDITORIAL DODGERS FAN INSPIRES WITH LOYALTY.
THERE just aren't many people like Richard Bloom anymore.
He's one of a small group of those with a strong sense of
commitment -- something that is rare in this age of the disposable, when
people switch loyalties so easily.
For the 56 years that Bloom has pledged his fidelity to the
Dodgers, in Brooklyn and then in Los Angeles, his family has held on to
its season tickets -- showing a dedication to the team that few show to
anything in life. Defeat after defeat didn't cool his ardor. Not
even the relocation of the team across the country could stop him from
being a true-blue fan.
Bloom's undying sense of loyalty and connection to something
larger than himself is an inspiration. He believes in something
strongly. So what if it's baseball?
