THE $2 Tuesdays promotion at Dodger Stadium     [  is a great idea to bring in more fans to Chavez Ravine and cheer on the city's team. And the experiment of discounting $6 and $10 seats drew more than 40,000 the first two Tuesdays.

No doubt much of the behavior was tied to alcohol. Although beer isn't sold in the pavilion section, it's sold everywhere else in the stadium and fans often prepare for games by drinking in the parking lot and bringing in booze-filled flasks.

Unless they want to see a return of the old days of rowdy Raiders football games that kept many families and others afraid to attend, Dodgers management must provide adequate security and crowd control for the games.
