EDITORIAL BOARD ARROGANCE LAUSD WON'T LET UP IN SPAT WITH MAYOR.

IT'S hard to believe the Los Angeles school board could get any pettier in its fight with Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. After all, it's already filed a lawsuit to block the mayor's popular school-reform plan. And it waited until Villaraigosa was in China to announce that it had picked a new superintendent without his consultation.

But now the board has sunk to even lower depths, filing a technical complaint about the classification of the committee Villaraigosa formed to push for his schools plan in Sacramento.

Why? Assembly Bill 1381 is law, period, and no legalistic nitpicking is going to change that. Besides, board members have little business complaining about how Villaraigosa used private funds to pursue his agenda when they used public funds to pursue theirs.

Board members, some of whom are up for re-election in March, might want to pay attention to what just happened across this country. This is the kind of behavior that ends political careers.
