EDITORIAL AMERICA'S HOLIDAY THIS SUNDAY IS SUPER.


IT'S one of America's most cherished traditions. We gather with friends and family, surrounded with food and good cheer. For a few hours, we are one in purpose, our fractured society uniting in a common experience of over-indulgence and good will.

No, we're not talking about Thanksgiving.

But like Turkey Day, Super Bowl Sunday is a quintessential quin·tes·sen·tial  
adj.
Of, relating to, or having the nature of a quintessence; being the most typical: "Liszt was the quintessential romantic" Musical Heritage Review.
 American holiday, a day also made famous for overeating overeating

eating too much food too quickly; leads to acute gastric dilatation in dogs and horses, acute carbohydrate engorgement in ruminants, dietetic (dietary) diarrhea in young calves and foals, abomasal tympany in bottle fed lambs and calves.
 and football on the TV.

With the exception of team loyalties, it's also a day of remarkable unity. Even many who are not football fans like to tune in, if only for the commercials.
