THE folks at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is an international nonprofit organization that supports Animal Rights and has spawned a tremendous amount of conflict and controversy from its inception.  have long been famous for their shocking and provocative campaigns, but their latest - comparing Jewish victims of the Nazi Holocaust to slaughtering livestock - goes beyond the pale.

While few would argue that farm animals, even those destined des·tine

 for slaughter, should be treated humanely, there's no comparing a chicken to a human being. The Holocaust stands out in history for its sheer horror. It's not to be mocked or trivialized, its victims depicted as scarcely different from animals.
