EDITORIAL 'FESS UP, ELTON FLIP-FLOPPING CONGRESSMAN MUST RELEASE HEALTH RECORDS.

 by releasing his health records.

Normally, that type of private information is private. But Gallegly made the issue one of public concern when he cited vague health problems as his reason for withdrawing from his re-election campaign Friday at the last minute. The announcement was so last-minute, in fact, that several interested Republican candidates didn't have time to sign up for the June primary, and Gallegly eventually decided to stay in the race after all.

 by serious health problems, then no one can blame him for his bad timing. But when he jumped back into the race Wednesday - saying his doctors tell him he'll be able to do the job "100 percent" - it created some understandable suspicion.

Which is it? Either Gallegly has experienced a medical miracle, or he's so sick that he might not do the best job for another two years - or he's not being straightforward with the public.

Either way, voters have a right to know before they cast their ballots in June.
