EDITORIAL : THE KID NEXT DOOR.

JOHN F. Kennedy "John Kennedy" and "JFK" redirect here. For other uses, see John Kennedy (disambiguation) and JFK (disambiguation).
John Fitzgerald Kennedy (May 29, 1917–November 22, 1963), was the thirty-fifth President of the United States, serving from 1961 until his assassination in
 Jr. touched our hearts.

Thanks to a world that has become a global village and our fascination with celebrity, it seemed like he grew up next door.

We cooed over him when he was born to the president-elect.

We cried for him on his third birthday as he saluted his father's casket.

We played Frisbee with him in New York's Central Park after he ditched the Secret Service on the cross-town bus. We partied with him at Brown University.

We celebrated his graduation from law school, then teased him when he twice failed the bar exam Noun 1. bar exam - an examination conducted at regular intervals to determine whether a candidate is qualified to practice law in a given jurisdiction; "applicants may qualify to take the New York bar examination by graduating from an approved law school"; "he passed . We cheered when he passed it.

We followed him down the streets of New York New York, state, United States

We watched him grow into a handsome young man who dated starlets before he found his soulmate soulmate ncompaƱero/a del alma  in a Calvin Klein publicist named Carolyn Bessette - a woman he met while jogging in the park.

Ultimately, we didn't know him. We just watched him mature. He kept to himself, much as his mother had, and told us only what he wanted us to know.

Sadly, it appears, his life has come to an end - too soon at age 38. Sadly, too, his wife and her sister Lauren appear to have perished in the same crash of his small plane off the coast of Martha's Vineyard, Mass.

We're saddened by the loss of JFK Jr. He was a link to the America that existed when his father was president. We're sad because his family has endured tragedy upon tragedy and something inside us is whispering, please, no more.

We're also sad for the Bessettes, who lost two daughters.

John F. Kennedy Jr. had the gifts of good looks, good fortune and good heritage. He lived his life to the fullest, and if that meant taking risks, so be it.

The myth of Camelot that surrounded his father's presidency left him anointed "Anointed" redirects here. For the process of anointing, see Anointing.

Anointed is a Contemporary Christian music duo consisting of siblings Steve and Da'dra Crawford. Their musical style includes elements of R&B, funk, and piano ballads.
as the closest thing America had to a prince.

But the power his father had to inspire ordinary Americans derived not from his wealth or charm but from his promise of hope for everyone.

That is the torch JFK Jr. bore as heir to the Kennedy legacy, the flame of hope 1. The Flame of Hope is a flame that was lit in 1989 as a tribute to Dr. Frederick Banting, who in 1922 discovered insulin, and all the people that have lost their lives to diabetes. The flame will remain lit until there is a cure for diabetes.  that flickers once again.
