SEE what you grinches did.

You broke into that North Hollywood shelter and stole gifts donated do·nate  
v. do·nat·ed, do·nat·ing, do·nates

To present as a gift to a fund or cause; contribute.

v.intr.
To make a contribution to a fund or cause.
 to give little children in need a merry Christmas.

You filched from kids who have so little that it makes your crime an offense to humanity.

You tried to steal Christmas, but you lost.

Your crime brought out the goodness in hundreds of people who brought 600 new toys and $3,500 in cash and checks to the shelter within hours of reading about your crime in the Daily News.

That's more gifts and money than shelter officials would have been able to share with the needy need·y

It started with a few police officers collecting toys to replace the stolen ones. Then the collection drive took off.

Businesses heeded the call. People with no connection to the shelter filled the parking lot and then lined up on the busy street out front to share a little holiday spirit.

Their only thought was to bring smiles to the faces of youngsters who have so little that a small toy at Christmas may make their year.
