EDITORIAL : CHAOS IN SIMI VALLEY.The school board in Simi Valley needs to answer for its bungling - seven superintendents in seven years is an outrageous disservice to the children of the community. Four months ago, the board passed up the chance to hire an experienced superintendent to hire Dan Flynn, who had no experience as a superintendent. Last week, the board asked him to resign because of dissatisfaction with his performance. Now the public is paying for the board's bungling with thousands of dollars in severance and disarray in the district. Former board President Norm Walker recruited Flynn and convinced the board to hire him, but only during Flynn's final days in the job did the board get around to discussing very general goals. The public has a right to ask what the board members have been doing all this time. The board should be held accountable for the chaos. |
