EDITOR'S COLUMN: TAKING A LOOK AT THE NUMBERS.

If you haven't been to valleynews.com yet, you're missing out on something big.

We just got our first statistics in this week, and I am very excited to report that valleynews.com has had nearly 100,000 page views, or ``hits,'' in August.

For a brand-new Web site, I think that's an awesome number.

In addition, valleynews.com now has 816 registered users. That's nearly 1,000 people who have joined our online community.

Three hundred and sixty four people have posted a story, event or blog blog, short for web log, an online, regularly updated journal or newsletter that is readily accessible to the general public by virtue of being posted on a website.  to valleynews.com just in the past week.

The energy and response we are receiving shows that Valley residents are more than ready to take on this citizen journalism News and commentary from the public at large. Using wiki sites and blogs, anyone can contribute information about a current event. Also known as "collaborative citizen journalism" (CCJ), "grassroots media" and "personal publishing," the concept behind citizen journalism is that many  project.
