ST. LOUIS, Sept. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Edison Brothers Stores, Inc. (NYSE: EBS), has agreed to purchase the assets of Tri-Korea Ltd., which operates buying offices in Seoul, Korea; Manila, The Philippines; and San Pedro Sula, Honduras. Tri-Korea had served as a sub-agent to Kasmen Ltd. of Hong Kong, which is an apparel buying arm of Edison Brothers Stores International. The purchase is expected to be completed about Oct. 1.
"The acquisition of Tri-Korea adds a strong element to our sourcing coverage in both Asia and Central America," said Andrew E. Newman, chairman of Edison Brothers Stores, Inc. "We already are represented in Hong Kong and Taiwan, and Seoul represents the third point of the triangle. The Tri-Korea office in Honduras also gives us a valuable presence in the Caribbean, which we see as an important growth area for international sourcing."
