EDISON'S PARTNERS WITH CONSERVATION CORPS TO STRENGTHEN COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

ROSEMEAD, Calif., Sept. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Southern California Edison has announced the establishment of a partnership with the Los Angeles Conservation Corps to expand community involvement in East Los Angeles.
Edison is supporting the partnership with a commitment of $180,000 per year over the next three years. Edison will hire the services of a Conservation Corps team to renovate Edison facilities, including landscaping, the removal of graffiti, and painting. This is work that is normally done under contract to Edison. The company also will finance the time that Corps members are receiving training. That training includes work and life skills needed to complete the high school equivalency course.
Edison has pledged an additional $50,000 for use by the Corps in community involvement projects in the East Los Angeles area within Edison's service territory.
Mendez added that "The East Los Angeles community is an important part of the area that Edison serves, and we are pleased that the Conservation Corps has established a work base in this region. By partnerships such as this we can work together to improve the quality of life of all people."
