EDICON INTRODUCES ID MANAGEMENT AND ACCESS CONTROL ON A SINGLE WORKSTATION

ROCHESTER, N.Y., June 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Edicon Systems Division, a Kodak Company (NYSE: EK), announces the availability of a new security management product, designed primarily to provide card-based access control and alarm monitoring for a single facility.
An affordable, stand-alone product, the ENVOY(TM) 6000 Integrated Access Control System combines the functions of access control and alarm monitoring with electronic imaging and identification card/badge production, within one workstation, on a single database.
The integration of ID management and access control is provided under a single, multi-tasking operating environment, using IBM's OS/2(TM). This allows several functions, such as alarm monitoring, cardholder enrollment and data management, or system administration, to be executed and processed simultaneously. The result is enhanced productivity, reduced labor costs and increased user flexibility.
According to David G. Rusin, Edicon's president and general manager, the 6000 System's open architecture and modular design make it ideal for facilities that may require multiple workstations in the future.
"The 6000 System rounds out Edicon's family of products," said Rusin. "We designed the ENVOY family with a built-in migration path. Like other ENVOY products, the 6000 System can be readily upgraded to a more sophisticated networked version."
Rusin cited the following examples to illustrate some of the ENVOY 6000 System's many benefits, not found in other access control systems: only one system to maintain and service, which is supplied by a single vendor; changes to both ID and access control data can be made immediately and system-wide; the single database provides superior data integrity, better disaster recovery and ultimately, total security for a facility.
The ENVOY 6000 System was designed specifically for use in corporate office buildings, medical/hospital, government, financial, manufacturing, education and airport facilities.
The first public exhibition of the ENVOY 6000 System is scheduled for June 27-29 at the Building Operators and Managers Association International Convention in Baltimore.
