EDDIE WILLIAMS ELECTED TO GRUMMAN'S BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 BETHPAGE, N.Y., Feb. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Grumman Corporation (NYSE: GQ) announced today that Eddie N. Williams has been elected a director. Williams, 60, has been president of the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies since 1972. Located in Washington, D.C., the Joint Center is a national, nonprofit and nonpartisan research and public policy institution that conducts research and analyses on major policy issues that affect both black Americans and the nation as a whole.
 Between 1968 and 1972, Williams was vice president for public affairs and director of the Center for Policy Study at the University of Chicago. In the 1960s, he held several positions in the U.S. Department of State and on the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations.
 Williams has received many honors and awards for outstanding leadership. In 1992, the National Black Caucus of State Legislators gave him its "National Builder Award" for his contributions to the nation. In 1991, the WASHINGTONIAN magazine named Williams one of 16 "Washingtonians of the Year."
 In 1988, he received the prestigious MacArthur Foundation "genius award" for his work "in enabling black leaders, politicians, and others to highlight the needs of the nation's poor and disenfranchised."
 Williams also serves on the boards of Independent Sector, Washington, a non-profit organization to educate the public about the role of the independent, non-profit sector; National Opinion Research Center, Chicago; National Endowment for Democracy, Washington; Riggs National Bank of Washington; Japan-America Society of Washington; PEW Partnership For Civic Change, Philadelphia, a project to invest in American cities with populations between 50,000 and 150,000; Public/Private Ventures, Philadelphia; and the Promus Companies, Inc., Memphis, Tenn.
 Grumman Corporation is best known as a leading international aircraft and aerospace company. Other businesses range from sophisticated integrated information and electronics systems to U.S. Postal Service delivery trucks. The company has headquarters at Bethpage, N.Y., and employs 20,000 worldwide. Revenues were $3.5 billion in 1992.
