ECI Telecom chosen by Belgacom as sole supplier of pair gain solutions; Multi Year Supply Agreement Could Exceed $30M.

PETAH TIKVA, Israel--(BUSINESS WIRE)--February 11, 1997--ECI Telecom Ltd., (NASDAQ/NM symbol: ECILF) announced today that it has been selected to be Belgacom's sole supplier of Access Network pair gain multiplexer solutions.

Under the terms of the agreement, ECI will deliver and deploy its ACCESS products including: PCM2, PCM4, PCM11, and ASLMX systems. The contract was awarded for an initial period of three years with an option to extend to five years. ECI estimates that under the framework contract, sales over the three year period could exceed BF990M (about US$30M).

As explained by a Belgacom official: "Belgacom favoured ECI's overall Access Network strategy, comprising a broad range of Access Network solutions and products. By employing ECI's pair gain solutions, Belgacom will be able to expand and renew its existing network infrastructure quickly and in a cost-effective way, while maintaining a high standard of performance through use of PCM transmission".

Mr. Uri Kashti, ECI's Corporate VP and General Manager of the Access Network Strategic Business Unit, added: "We are very pleased to be able to provide Belgacom with our Access Network solutions. ECI's pair gain systems delivered to Belgacom will be supported by a sophisticated management system and will incorporate a special copper wire line testing feature that ensures automatic subscriber line connection, thus enhancing service to customers".

The framework contract contains the basic understanding of the parties and the Company's estimate of future sales which are based upon its current view of customer future individual orders.
