ECI Telecom Chosen to Expand Beijing Subway's Communications Network for the 2008 Olympics; Beijing Subway Selects ECI's Solutions in Preparation for Millions of Spectators at Event.

PETAH TIKVA, Israel -- ECI Telecom (NASDAQ: ECIL) today announced that Beijing Subway, the state-owned subway system serving the greater Beijing area and its outlying suburbs, has selected ECI Telecom's solutions for its internal communications network in anticipation of the 2008 Olympics. During the Olympics, it is expected that millions of people will be using the public subway system every day. ECI is supplying Beijing Subway with the optical transmission to expand its network capabilities for video monitoring, surveillance and safety in the subway system.

ECI's XDM(R) Multi-Service Provisioning Platform (MSPP) was chosen for expansion of the network to handle the expected surge in traffic. The new network will span Line 1 & Line 2 of the Beijing Subway, include 47 stations and cover 100KM. Additional deployments are expected to follow in other Chinese cities in the near future.
