ECI TELECOM'S NEW DCME PRODUCT WINS FIRST ORDER.
The QuadCoder 300 is the latest addition to ECI's Digital Circuit Multiplication Equipment (DCME) product line. Unlike ECI's other DCME products, the DTX-240 and DTX-360 which are aimed primarily at international satellite links, the QuadCoder 300 is designed to increase traffic capacity in a wide range of applications, such as leased lines, inter-city and cellular networks. The QuadCoder 300 is a unique transcoder that uses the ITU approved toll quality LD-CELP (Low Delay Code Excited Linear Prediction) speech compression algorithm, ECI's patented facsimile demodulation and remodulation technique and other state-of-the-art technologies to achieve a 4-to-1 multiplication of voice, fax and voice band data calls.
Concert will deploy the systems during 1995 to increase capacity of lines it leases from local carriers throughout Europe.
Mr. Doron Zinger, ECI's Corporate Vice President and General Manager of DCME products, said that Concert's decision is the first firm indication of the potential of the QuadCoder 300 product. "The systems to be supplied to Concert will include a number of customer-specified features to conform with Concert's network management strategy, an example of ECI's customer-responsive approach."
The order announced today represents the Company's second award by Concert. In October 1994, ECI's wholly owned wide area networking subsidiary, Telematics International, Inc., announced the signing of a contract with Concert to supply access and concentration layer equipment for the customer's Global Managed Data Network.
