ECI TELECOM'S NEW DCME PRODUCT WINS FIRST ORDER.

(NASDAQ-NM Symbol: ECILF) today announced that Concert, the British Telecom/MCI global network services joint venture, has placed ECI's first order for QuadCoder 300 systems. The order totals approximately $1.2 million.

The QuadCoder 300 is the latest addition to ECI's Digital Circuit Multiplication Equipment Digital Circuit Multiplication Equipment (DCME) is a type of voice compression equipment that is installed at either end of a long-distance link (typically satellite or submarine). Unlike ECI's other DCME products, the DTX-240 and DTX-360 which are aimed primarily at international satellite links, the QuadCoder 300 is designed to increase traffic capacity in a wide range of applications, such as leased lines, inter-city and cellular networks. The QuadCoder 300 is a unique transcoder that uses the ITU (International Telecommunication Union, Geneva, Switzerland, www.itu.ch) A telecommunications standards body that is under the auspices of the United Nations. Concert will deploy the systems during 1995 to increase capacity of lines it leases from local carriers throughout Europe.

"The systems to be supplied to Concert will include a number of customer-specified features to conform with Concert's network management strategy, an example of ECI's customer-responsive approach."

The order announced today represents the Company's second award by Concert. In October 1994, ECI's wholly owned wide area networking subsidiary, Telematics International, Inc., announced the signing of a contract with Concert to supply access and concentration layer equipment for the customer's Global Managed Data Network.
