ECHO writers win newspaper awards.

THE Liverpool ECHO The Liverpool Echo is a newspaper published by Trinity Mirror on Merseyside in England. It is published Monday to Saturday, and is Liverpool's evening newspaper while its sister paper, the Liverpool Daily Post, is the morning paper.  and its journalists again came out tops in the regional newspaper awards.

Liverpool FC reporter Chris Bascombe won the North West British Nuclear Fuel sports reporter of the year award for the third year running. Chief feature writer Paddy Shennan won the features writer of the year accolade.

The ECHO was runnerup in the overall Newspaper of the Year award.

The awards were collected at a BNFL BNFL British Nuclear Fuels LTD  ceremony at the JJB sports stadium in Wigan Wigan (wĭg`ən), city (1991 pop. 88,725) and metropolitan district, N England, located in the Manchester metropolitan area on the Douglas River. . ECHO editor Alastair Machray said: 'The awards confirm something we already know - the ECHO has the best journalists in the region.

'I am delighted that the quality of Paddy Shennan's feature writing was recognised. And I'm particularly pleased that Chris Bascombe got his own hat-trick of awards for the insight he gives readers on what is really going on at Anfield, which is something no national newspaper could ever hope to match
